Successful musicians aren't "just born with it," nor does fancy equipment produce great music. We must acquire knowledge about music and know what works where and what doesn't. All things are systems. Simply knowing how the system works and utilizing the appropriate facets of music at the right times is how masterpieces are created. We are all unique individuals; hence we must know what we are looking for and know what tones and keys accentuate our characters or objectives. E.g., when we mix colors together, we can know the outcome (black and white makes greys, etc.); when we mix specific food ingredients together, we most often know what the product will be and have a good idea about how it will taste. Synonymously, we must know which musical elements to integrate in order to reach our desired outcome/product/song.
